1 C. shortening
1/2 C. brown sugar
2 egg yolks, saving egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
2 C. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Mix dry ingredients thoroughly.
Blend in dry ingredients
Roll into one inch balls.
Roll in finely chopped nuts. I like almonds
Place one inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 5 minutes at 375 degrees.
Remove from oven and press a thimble on the top of each cookie. Return to oven and bake 8 minutes longer. Cool and fill with jelly.
